Leave the swift as it is,my kids have been swimming, fishing and kyaking there all there lives, and I have been doing the same for 30yrs, it would be a shame for the natural enviroment and I think the Indians knew what they were doing way back when this was there land, we need to put a stop to this now before they decide to destroy more waterways, it would be detrimental to fishery, wetlands, wildlife and our own backyards in the long run.

My family, friends and I have been going to the Swift River for as long as i can remember. I’ve spent many summers camping, tubing, boating, fishing and swimming there. It would be very upsetting to see the river and all the wildlife ruined. Hopefully the Bondsville Dam will be saved so that everyone now and in the years to come can enjoy the river.

I often enjoy kayaking this prettiest stretch of river in western Mass and hope to get more involved in saving the dam and preserving the river’s recreational attributes before it’s too late. Here’s a couple of blog posts and pictures I took from some past trips on the river:

Tell the powers that be to leave the Swift River alone. Once this gem is lost, it will be gone forever. Our children and grandchildren will never have the opportunity to enjoy this pristine area of natural wonder.

Save the Swift River!!! I have been fishing the Swift River for 25 years. My kids love fishing in that river, and swimming in it. Now, instead of destroying the dam, I would suggest you do something about the kids jumping off the new bridge off River Rd. before another young life is lost and you will eventually want to tear down the bridge, for I’m sure you will think it was the bridge’s fault a life was taken. This is what it all boils down to, is it not???

For all the times I have kayaked on the Swift, I am always amazed at its beauty and tranquility. I am strongly in favor of preserving the dam and, thereby, preserving this wonderful recreational site.

Protect the Swift! It’s our duty to make sure it is just as beautiful 100 years from now! Whatever needs to be done to preserve must be done! I would love to be kept informed on any fundraising efforts for this purpose.
